State Updates

January 2024 Update - Since the NPV Bill died in Committee in 2022, no new efforts have been made in West Virginia since.  The make-up of the Legislature convinces us that WV's risk factor is upgraded to a solid Electoral College State!  Way to go, West Virginia!

March 13, 2022 - The NPVIC bill, HB-2122 DIED in Committee on 3/12/2022!!  GREAT NEWS!

February 2021 -  On 2/10/21, HB-2122 was introduced by Democrat Rep Barbara Fleischauer of the 51st District, in Morgantown.  The Bill is referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

We expect a moderate push, from the California-based National Popular Vote office, in West Virginia in early 2021.  They have hired a half-dozen highly-paid former Republican State lawmakers and 'consultants' for the express purpose of convincing Republicans that a national popular vote will help their Party specifically.

Four Democrat Delegates have sponsored the NPVIC as HB 4575 in the House. No Bill is yet in the Senate.  Because of the pending Bill, we consider W VA to be a at Moderate Risk of falling to the NPVIC.

With a Republican Governor - who changed from the Democrat Party in 2017 - and a solid Republican General Assembly, West Virginia is one of the few Red States that that the Left needs in order get closer to their Collusion Threshold of 270 Electoral Votes to activate the NPVIC Compact.  They need W VA to claim bi-partisan support for their very Left-leaning campaign.

The National Republican Party stands strongly opposed to the NPVIC scheme in its Party Platform and West Virginia Republicans have a good track record of following the Republican Party Platform.

Send Your Letter to the Editor -

Almost always, your letter needs to be 200 to 250 words or less.  You need to include your name, address and phone number - often, staff will call you to verify that you really sent the Letter in.
Be courteous and simply express your opinion about why you believe that it is in West Virginia's best interests to remain in control WEST VIRGINIA'S Electoral Votes, and that West Virginia needs to REJECT the National Popular Vote interstate Compact every time that it is brought up.
