State UpdatesMay 19, 2023 - Through what I believe to be a totally cowardly action, the Minnesota Legislature passed - along strict Party lines with only Democrat DFL votes - the national popular vote scheme and Governor Walz signed it into law! Even though Governor Walz had said publicly a couple years ago that he felt that all election laws must be passed with bipartisan support, he signed the Elections Omni0mess bill with just a single party putting the legislation on his desk. The NPV scheme was buried among a dozen other election law changes that will enhance Democrat ability to stay in office. March 16, 2023 - The Senate Elections Committee is considering an OMNIBUS Elections bill, which now includes the National Popular Vote Compact scheme among its many pages! SF-538 has already had its Second Reading in the full Senate!! Feb 3, 2023 - Both the House and Senate Elections Committees PASSED the National Popular Vote bills along strict Party Lines this week. On the the floor in the next few weeks for full Chamber votes. January 28, 2023 - ALERT! Both the House HF-642 and the Senate SF-538 have scheduled Committee HEARINGS on the National Popular Vote scheme for Jan 31 and Feb 1 respectively! These bills need to be DEFEATED in each Committee! More details to follow shortly - - November 2022 - Backers of the National Popular Vote scheme have made gains in the control of Minnesota's State government. We are therefore holding the State's risk of joining the NPVIC debacle at HIGH RISK. January 2021 - Senate Bill SF-18, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact scheme was introduced on January 7, 2021. The Bill has had its first reading and has been assigned to the State Government, Finance and Policy & Elections Committee. On January 14, the House Bill HF-0047 was introduced. We expect a MAJOR push by NPVIC in the new Legislature in this session. The Associated Press reports that the paid consultant staff of NPV is targeting certain States in 2021 and 2022. Critics of Electoral College Target States, Push for Popular Vote Compact We expect a big push from the California-based National Popular Vote office in Minnesota in early 2021. In early 2019, Democrats introduced the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact Bill. (HF1935DE1) The House passed the NPVIC scheme, but the Minnesota Senate did not take up the bill for a full vote, letting the NPVIC scheme die in Committee. The NPVIC scheme was wrapped up into a massive "Omnibus" spending Bill at one point that included 14 Election Reform measures and basically ALL of the spending for the entire State government. It was a terrible MESS! Fortunately the Senate effectively killed the Bil in 2019. It has not been re-introduced in 2020 We expect a new Bill to be reintroduced in the new Legislature in January 2021. It will the SEVENTH (7th) consecutive Legislative session that the California-based NPV financiers have tried to get Minnesota to give away the control of their Electoral Votes. Minnesota is a high-value target for the NPV office, based in northern California, to win over. They desperately need "Purple" States to be able to activate their scheme, and MN's ten Electors would draw them much closer to their objective. GIVING AWAY the Control of Minnesota's Votes!
