NPVIC Status - SOUTH DAKOTA

State Updates

November2020 - We expect a push, from the California-based National Popular Vote office, however they are likely to spare South Dakota as they move on Purple States first in 2021, where they believe they have a better chance of winning.

Because of South Dakota's current State government make-up and the pretty strong feelings of independence and States' Rights believed in by most South Dakotans, we feel that South Dakota is a sound and solid Electoral College State, not likely at risk of joining the dangerous NPVIC collusion contract.

In the News ...

BISMARCK, 11-10-2020  -  States pushing to abolish electoral college.  By KFYR News 5 Staff

MONTANA, 11-06-2020  -  The Presidency Often Hinges On A Handful Of States. Some Have Made A Popular Vote Pact.  By Laurel Wamsley, Montana Public Radio

DENVER, 11-05-2020  -  Proposition 113 Approved, CO Electoral Votes Could Still Go To Winner of National Popular Vote.  By Jesse Sarles,  CBS 4 Denver

WYOMING, 10-30-2020  -  OPINION: Why the Electoral College does a disservice to Wyoming.  By Mark Jenkins,  WyoFile.     We strongly DISAGREE with this Opinion writer's opinion. He builds his opinion on this most-common of False Foundations.
Backers of the dangerous NPVIC intentionally confuse voters by telling them that they are voting for the PRESIDENT, when the truth has ALWAYS been that - because their STATE has asked them to - they are voting for the STATE's Presidential ELECTORS.

Send Your Letter to the Editor -

Almost always, your letter needs to be 200 to 250 words or less.  Be courteous and simply express your opinion about why you believe that it is in South Dakota's best interests to remain in control SOUTH DAKOTA'S Electoral Votes, and that South Dakota needs to REJECT the National Popular Vote interstate Compact every time that it is brought up.
