NPVIC Status - SOUTH DAKOTA |
State UpdatesJanuary 2024 - A House Resolution, HCR-6001, supported by twenty-six (26) Republicans and no Democrats expresses the support of the South Dakota Legislature for the Electoral College and opposition to the National Popular Vote scheme on the basis that it violates the Constitution. November2020 - We expect a push, from the California-based National Popular Vote office, however they are likely to spare South Dakota as they move on Purple States first in 2021, where they believe they have a better chance of winning. Because of South Dakota's current State government make-up and the pretty strong feelings of independence and States' Rights believed in by most South Dakotans, we feel that South Dakota is a sound and solid Electoral College State, not likely at risk of joining the dangerous NPVIC collusion contract. |
