Ohio is at a Low Risk of succumbing to the NPVIC scheme, primarily because of its Republican government.

State Updates

October 2020 - We expect a big push, from the California-based National Popular Vote office, in Ohio in early 2021.

Ohio Representative David Leland introduced the National Popular Vote interstate Compact Bill, HB 70 in the House in February 2019.  The Bill has not had any action taken on it by the House Federalism Committee since introduced.  There appears to be no Senate Bill introduced.

OHIO is known a 'Swing State' in Presidential politics, but it is the type of "Purplish Red State" that the Democrats desperately need if they hope to ever activate their devious popular vote scheme.

In the News ...

BOSTON, 11-04-2020  -  Losing the Popular Vote, Winning The Electors, and Other Electoral College Questions Answered.  By the Associated Press on WBUR News.  NOTE: This is actually a very good and accurate description of the US Electoral process!

CLEVELAND, 10-19-2020 - LETTER to the EDITOR:  Ohio can help end the Electoral College by Joining National Popular Vote Compact.  By "Other Names", Cleveland.Com  (And the NPVIC Sales people keep saying that their scheme "actually PRESERVES the Electoral College!"  <sigh>)

OBERLIN, 9-27-2019 - EDITORIAL:  NPV Represents Opportunity for Ohio.  By Editorial Board, The Oberlin Review.  We at 'Keep Our 50 States' could not disagree any more strenuously.

OHIO, 4-09-2019 - Organizers Withdraw National Popular Vote Proposal.  By Nick Evans,  WOSU Public Media

CINCINNATI, 4-04-2019 - OPINION: National Popular Vote group not behind mystery petition in Ohio.  By John Koza, Founder and Financier of NPVIC in California.  (It's amazing that the backers behind the NPVIC scheme do NOT want voters to decide if voters should decide who the President is!!)

COLUMBUS, 4-03-2019 - Ohioans might vote on issue to give presidency to national popular vote winner.  By Randy Ludlow, The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI, 4-01-2019 - Ohioans might vote to ditch Electoral College. Who's behind the effort? That's a mystery.  By Jackie Borchardt, Cincinnati Enquirer.  Background - SOMEONE on the Left goofed up and tried to go around the Legislature and put the NPVIC scheme on the ballot so that Ohio VOTERS could have a say in whether or not control of OHIO's Electoral Votes is given to Non-Ohioans.  The people behind the NPVIC scheme quickly moved to put an end that referendum effort - it seems like they do not want voters in a State to have such a say.  IRONIC, isn't it?

Almost always, your letter needs to be 200 to 250 words or less.  Be courteous and simply express your opinion about why you believe that it is in Ohio's best interests to remain in control OHIO's Electoral Votes, and that Ohio needs to REJECT the National Popular Vote interstate Compact every time that it is brought up.
